The pulse of progress is the heartbeat of a nation, and can be heard and felt wherever the environment throbs with vitality. Society progresses at many levels; some seem more exciting, others comparatively mundane, but all are equally relevant. The roar of a space research satellite being rocketed into orbit is no more relevant than the subdued clatter of a freight train transporting raw materials across the country.
While highly advanced, even futuristic technology is essential to a nation’s stake on progress. There is an equally strong need for relevant technology at the grass-roots level. This is all the more so because the vast majority of India’s population is directly and immediately affected by developments at their own level of existence.
Sah Group of Industries in Varanasi has chosen to concentrate their resources and their technology on this particular sector. Their range of activities span various applications of electrical prime mover technology to the basis needs of people, the air and the water, to improve their standard of living by introducing products reducing manual burden of housewives and weaker section of society, at home, in agriculture and helpful to small industry.
“TULLU”, a name, which has become synonymous for all small water lifting pumps, due to its quality and dependability, are manufactured by Messrs. U.P. National Manufacturers Limited, Varanasi, India, which entered into Industrial Production in 1958 and started manufacturing of small F.H.P. Motors, under the dynamic supervision of Late Shri Vijay Kumar Sah, the then Managing Director, which were supplied to manufacturers of Scientific and Surgical Instruments, Duplicators, Bag Closing Machines and House-hold Appliances as O.E.M. Equipment.
The second manufacturing unit of SAH GROUP OF INDUSTRIES, U.P. National Manufacturers limited has all facilities of large-scale linings, industrial trappings and operational methods. Its relation with employees and workers is exemplary. With a strength of more than workers and staff it has never faced even a single day’s work-lay down in its history.
It has promoted and developed over 100 ancillary units which manufacture parts, only for TULLU and give employment to about two thousand people.
R & D UNIT
It is equipped with all the modern testing equipment. Qualified Engineers look after the new product’s development and also keep close watch on quality control.
TULLU Water Pumps
In 1960, the U.P. National Manufacturers Ltd., Varanasi, started manufacturing small water lifting pumps to enliven the burden of housewives who had to lift water themselves to upper stories, TULLU pumps along with TULLU Sewing Machine Motors became instantly and intensively popular in common house-holds, famous USHA and SINGER Sewing Machine Companies also started taking TULLU S.M. Motors exclusively for use with their Sewing Machines. TULLU has been recognized with quality. Before accepting its Sewing Machine Motors for use Singer Sewing Machine Company sent the samples for testing to its parent concern at U.K. and got their approval. Other TULLU Products are ELECTRIC SIREN, EXHAUST FANS, COOLER FANS, FRESH AIR FANS and 12 and 24 VOLTS WIND SCREEN BLOWERS, which were designed for supplying to TATA and LEYLAND Trucks used for export and Military.
While started with a single model of 1/20 H.P. we have today, a wide range of water pumps with 36 models from 1/25 H.P. to 1.5 H.P., to cater the requirement of domestic needs as well of light irrigation.
Today we manufacture more than 1, 00,000 units of TULLU water pumps.
Export of TULLU products:
In 1975 first consignment of TULLU water pumps was shipped to Dubai. Subsequently it has also sailed to KENYA and NIGERIA. Not only water pumps but TULLU products like Electric Sirens, Exhaust Fans and sewing machine motors have also gained good popularity in African markets and at present TULLU products are being exported to UAE, KENYA, NEPAL and NIGERIA.
BOOTY: ENTERING THE KITCHEN:
From drawing rooms with fans to gardens, bathrooms, roofs, and drinking water tanks with pumps, the Company entered the kitchen by manufacturing of Mixer & Grinder (Kitchen machine) under the brand name “BOOTY”.
SOLAR PUMPS:
TULLU is the first in India to manufacturer Solar Energy operated water pumps in 1976. On the call of Government of India, U.P. National Manufacturers Ltd., the only Company, which enthusiastically responded the call and within a very short span of two years developed and supplied three models of Solar Pumps. At present more than 3000 pump sets are installed in remote places in India from the heights of Himalayas to the Seashore of Kanyakumari.
VARANASI EXPORTS

This Company was floated in the year 1993 and is engaged in export activities of Antique items, such as Iron locks, sprayers, petromax, blow-lamps, torches, umbrellas, clocks, trunks, brass-stoves, iron-press etc. and has been able to export these items to European and American Countries.
SEAL-LESS MAGNETIC DRIVE PUMP SETS
After setting a mile stone in the field of domestic Water Pump Set, TULLU diversified its attention towards Industries. To meet the Industrial requirements TULLU has associated with “MARCH PUMPS”, a leading and reputed Company of Industrial pumps in U.S.A. and has started manufacturing a wide range of “Seal-less Magnetic Drive Pump Sets “ in India, since 1993.
“MARCH PUMPS” have also appointed “TULLU” as their Sole Selling Agents in India.
SAH GROUP AND THE SOCIETY
Moved primarily by a concern for quality of life of people at the grass-root level, it is not surprising that SAH GROUP also conducts a CHARITABLE TRUST and RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CENTRE for non-conventional energy resource aimed at translating advanced technology into products that would meet the basis needs of society.
In recognition of its contribution to the society, Sah Group of Industries have been honored by the following award
